AUTHOR VISITS

Yes, I do author visits and I enjoy them very much.  I like to tailor the
visit to the needs of each school.  The librarian is the one who usually
decides on the classes that I will visit.  She sets up the class schedule and
serves as the linkbetween author and faculty.

Sometimes, teachers want me to discuss an aspect of writing.  Sometimes,
they want me to walk the students through the process of a book becoming
a book.

For 7th and 8th graders, I often talk to history classes about the American
Revolution.  I bring the Revolutionary War alive through little-known
stories and a mock inoculation for small pox.

My novels are for all levels:

The Lorenzo series about the American Revolution (5th-8th grade):
Lorenzo's Secret Mission
Lorenzo's Revolutionary Quest
Lorenzo and the Turncoat
Lorenzo and the Pirate

Kichi in Jungle Jeopardy
(Ideal for 6th Grade World Culture Classes)

Green Slime and Jam (4th-5th)

NON-FICTION:

George Lopez:  King of Latino Comedy  (Ages 9-12)

Famous Hispanics Series
:  Grades 2 and 3.
Cesar Chavez
Roberto Clemente
Frida Kahlo
Diego Rivera
Ellen Ochoa

Testimonials:

"Lila does one of the best author visits I have ever seen."
Madeline Smoot,
editor

"My colleagues and I were talking about your wonderful ability
to reach kids through speech as well as text.  I can't tell you how delighted
I am that you are willing to come to Oak
Hill again."
Sandra Burnside, 3rd grade teacher

"Thank you so much for coming to Oak Springs and presenting to our
children.  I know that they enjoyed it very much!
You were so wonderful with the kids.   I was really impressed with how
you spoke to the different grade levels at their
level and "reeled them back in" when their minds were starting to wander.
I also enjoyed meeting you and talking with you.
I hope we see you next year.
